The main sources of funding of the Foundation has been from:
- The Rotuma Golf Tournaments and Evening Function (2011 – 2019)
- Contributions from members of the global Rotuman community
- Individual donations and gifts
- Corporate donations and sponsorship.
Attached is the reconciliation of the receipts and expenditure since the start of the fundraising events in 2011 to last year 2019. Summary of income and expenditure The reserve has been built up over the past two years to ensure we have adequate funds to make a contribution to the next project the Trustees are considering.
The Trustees had approved a list of request for assistance which was delivered in December 2017 (Newsletter 2017). The items included wheel chairs, walkers and diapers. Also 60 Christmas hampers were delivered to families in Rotuma.
We had planned to undertake a delivery of assistance every two years. However, for 2019-2020 the Trustees are considering how the Foundation may assist at the newly built hospital. A list of items was provided, but the advice we have received is for the Trustees to discuss in person with those responsible for the acquisition of items to ensure that the appropriate equipment is obtained. We have had to delay undertaking those discussions because of the current restrictions on travel due to COVID-19.
There is one main fund raising each year and that is through hole sponsorship at the annual Rotuma Golf Day held on the first Saturday in October. The Foundation is reliant largely on these hole sponsorship and unfortunately we have not been able to attract the minimum number of 18 holes over the past few years. So if you are inclined to sponsor a hole then please let us know, especially for next year which is our tenth anniversary.
This year 2020 the Rotuma Golf Day is planned for Saturday 3 October, however a final decision will be made towards the middle of June when there is a clear indication as what limitations may be in place because of COVID-19.
